Fantastic house and a wonderful host! We had an amazing time and would love to come stay again.
We had a great stay at Thomas apartment in Brooklyn. There was plenty of space for all five of us in the family. It is perfect for a family to rent like this where you have the ability to cook for yourself and this apartment had all the facilities needed for this. We approciated that Thomas provided fruit, juice and soda in the fridge. A lot of other useful things was also available in the kitchen and bathroom. For us accustomed to temperature controlled hot water there could have been some warning that you can burn yourself on it. The house itself and some of the furniture is old and worn, but it's not a big problem. The vintage heat (steam?) radiators are pretty loud when turned on, but we were still able to sleep very well during the whole week. Neighborhood is quiet (for being NYC) and friendly. Shops had all we needed and the church nearby that we attended on Sunday was very welcoming.
Thomas as a host was generous and very helpful.
The apartment is exactly like the description. The house is old and creaking, but in a couple of hours you do not notice that.
The flat is huge, all the bedrooms are lovely and spacious, the bed are comfortable. The heating system is made by old-style cast-iron heater and sometimes make some noise, but it does his job.
The bathroom is small, especially compared to the other rooms.
Thomas is a great host: we found a basket of fruit and evereything we need. We could arrive there just with our clothes because the bathroom is well-equipped with soap, shampoo, toothbrush, shaving foam, cotton swabs and so on.
The neighborhood is great (everyone cheers to us and wished "Merry Christmas and happy new Year") and full of groceries and deli. The metro is at 5-10 minutes by walk (both A-C line and J line) as stated.
The internet connection is very good too.
We had a great holiday there in Brooklyn!
Had a great time at Thomas' apartment in Brooklyn. There was plenty of space for four of us and all the necessary stuff (fruit, snacks and soda included). The metro to Manhattan or JFK is literally round the corner 5 mins away. Don't expect absolute luxury but you should be very comfortable.Wifi a bonus and Thomas is a gent!
We have enjoyed our stay in apartment very much. Thomas was very kind and helpful host. We were bit sorry to miss proper goodbye with him as we had to run to Subway station.
The apartment was really nice and clean with all the stuff that we needed.
Also neighborhood vas very cool and safe with public transport almost at our doorstep.
When visiting NYC next time we'll definitely stay in Thomas apartment again.
I would like to thank Mr. Thomas for being such a hospitable and wonderful host! It was our enormous pleasure to rent his apartment. He is attentive, friendly and generous person. His apartment is most comfortable we've been ever before. I am sure that every new tenant willing to rent with Mr. Thomas is lucky one, because there is every convenience one can dream of. I strongly encourage to rent with Mr. Thomas. My personal thanks to him over again. Tamliani Family.
I arrived at the apartment slightly later than the fellow I was travelling with - no problems there. Thomas (the host) was very accommodating throughout our stay. The welcome pack was a lovely touch!
The apartment is great. It's as big, if not bigger, than the pictures suggest and has everything you need for a comfortable stay.
The neighbourhood is very quiet, so quiet in fact that MOST taxis will not know where it is and will therefore drive around hopelessly trying to find it, or they won't take you there at all. That's only a minor issue, as the area has good transport links - you can reach Manhattan via the C train in 30 - 35 minutes realistically.
Overall, really well priced and nice apartment in a safe neighbourhood, though it is further away from the city and other parts of Brooklyn than you may expect.
The apartment is in accordance with the description but the bathroom was terribly dirty. After a session of 1 hours of cleaning time, we're finally comfortable in this apartment. Manhattan is far from this location. (40 minutes and not 20 minutes as advertised). Mr. Barnes gave us fruit and a bottle of champagne for our honeymoon. We appreciate the gesture.
We're both musicians and we were delighted to meet Mr Barnes, who also is a musician. He is polite but does the minimum relational.
Mr. Barnes is a landlord of room that does not seek the meeting.
My husband had the chance to do two shows in NY. We asked Mr. Barnes to stay two more days. The theater, which organized the concert we had to rent a hotel room but it was easier for us to stay. Saturday morning we change apartments. The upper apartment was dirty, the bathroom as repugnant as the bottom one and we managed the transition with the other residents without the presence of Mr Barnes. We spend 1 hours to clean the apartment.
We had told Mr Barnes that we would collect money for the additional two days on Saturday night at the theater, which organized the concert with my husband.
Sunday afternoon Mr. Barnes has knocked on the door so violently.
We had stayed up late and we had planned to go to see at 14H. My husband forgot the money in the backstage of the theater where he performed.
THIS IS AN ERROR OF OURS.
My husband asks if he can pay Monday. We had planned to stay until Monday 18H and we thought it would not be a problem. Mr Barnes said he insist on having his money...
Mr. Barnes has threatened us!
He took out a $ 1,000 bill for late fees and lawyer.
He called his lawyer to get his money.
It was extremely violent to us who are sensitive and honest people.
We paid $ 200 immediately to avoid any problems by going out in an ATM.
We had spent 15 days in his house, we thought the discussion was possible.
Mr Barnes spoil the end of our stay by his threatening, violent and frightening attitude. We left on Monday morning because we felt really bad after this altercation. We do not recommend this rental to our friends who were coming to NY from 2012 to 2013.
